June 2008 - Posts

This has been posted too in the Jade Forums.

Hi!

these weeks we have moved Jade out from Codeplex to Assembla (http://www.assembla.com). We wanted to do this for several reasons:

- it's easier to manage collaborators and patches in SVN than in TFS.
- it integrates Trac (item tracking) with the wiki, check-ins,... (we didn't have this very integrated on Codeplex).
- we have the code, site, blog, chat, wiki on the same place instead of having the code on Codeplex, blog in Kartones, chat on IRC,...

The engine wiki has been revamped and should be complete right now (minor things are missing, but the nearly everything is done). Please tell us comments if you like it, if you find easy to navigate, to find info,... The wiki is located at:

http://www.jadengine.com

The Jade blog will now include topics about Pluto. In the new blog all team members will post so you should see more posts and about more different subjects. The blog is located at:

http://blog.jadengine.com/

The chat has been moved to the Assembla XMPP server. The instructions to connect using Pidgin are here:

http://trac.assembla.com/jadengine/wiki/...nce%20Room

The old blog will about Jade, but I will post there in spanish from now on to inform the spanish community of Jade. I will use the Stratos-ad forums for that too.
We have done a lot of work to migrate everything as fast as possible, so we hope you enjoy the new site and the features it offers to the community.

So that means this is going to be the last post in english on this blog, the next one will be in spanish. If you are an english reader, move your links to the new blog as you will see much more movement there.

Ok, we are now officially looking for help, this is the message that will get posted around several forums in our search for new graphic programmers:

I'm Vicente, coordinator of the Jad Engine project (a .NET Game Engine). We are searching for 1-2 graphic programmers to help in our  new 2.0 version. Jad Engine is a LGPL project that has been running for nearly 3 years now with a team of 2-6 people mostly from  Germany, USA and Spain. Every project has its ups and downs and currently our 2 graphic programmers are full of work and can't continue helping.

So far this new version has the basics but a lot of work remains to be done. If you want to join us you should know C# (C++ is  welcomed) and have good knowledge on the subject of rendering engines design (knowing OpenSceneGraph or Ogre/Axiom is a plus as we  have taken some ideas from them). The engine is renderer neutral so it doesn't matter if you know DX or OpenGL. You should be willing to put time into the project and join our IRC channel to chat with the rest of the team (specially the old graphic guys so they walk  you into the engine architecture and design). We usually meet during working days around 8-12PM GMT+1.  If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to ask here or email me at jadengine@gmail.com.

I would like to ask people who read this blog a favor: please spread the word. We really need people to keep going on instead of freezing for a long time, so if you can pass this message to more people it would be great :) And if you think you fit in what we are searching and want to join, send me an email or post here!
